Literature is aware of Deshmukh and Co. a Publishing house which has honoured literature
by publishing material from a spectrum of subjects and noted authors.In the year 1937 Mr.
R.J. Deshmukh founded this publishing house and by the means of varied subjects carved a
niche for the Company.The first ever publication was 'Manavendra Roy--Charitra va Vichar
--part 1'
As a publisher who planned to add value to the society vide the readership, Mr. Deshmukh
had chalked out a specific line of thinking for the Company and abided by the same, in
order to maintain the quality of literature to be honoured by the Publishing house.
1960 witnessed 'Gyaanpeeth award' for 'Yayati' followed by 'Sahitya Academy' award for
'Swami','Vyakti ani Valli','Yugant',the prized publications.
After the demise of Mr.Deshmukh his wife Smt.Sulochana Deshmukh took over and navigated
the Publishing house to the same honour and position as developed by late Mr.Deshmukh .
Assessing the author, weighing the text and also initiating over a specifically chosen
subject were her strong areas of work.Alongwith the established old time authors she
identified and helped establish the young writers from the upcoming generation.She got the
Publishing house the most honourable" Vishnupant Bhagwat Puraskar'and 'The best
Publishing house award' from the Organization of NRIs 'Maharashtra Foundation'.
Till date the publishing house is successfully operative with the same ideologies and
quality parameters.
